Open Access aggregator for reviews from historical journals with a regional focus
recensio.regio aggregates a broad choice of reviews from historical journals with a regional focus.
Print and online journals can publish their review sections with enhanced visibility on recensio.regio whether or not they have already been published before (preprint or postprint). Users can browse each journal individually on its respective sub-page, also containing general information on the journal, or search it along with all other journals.
The editorial team of recensio.regio enhances all reviews with metadata (subject headings, classification information regarding time, region and topic of the title reviewed etc.) to improve their findability and to provide the means for browsing by subject. If they do not already have one, each review will be given a citable DOI (Digital Object Identifier).
All reviews are searchable in full text and available for download on recensio.regio or via link to the respective journal’s own website.
The platform's navigation languages are English and German; the reviews themselves are mostly written in in German.
Long-term archiving and reference in other search portals
The Bavarian State Library (Bayerische Staatsbibliothek) provides for the reference and linkage of the reviews in the cooperative library catalogue of the federal states of Bavaria, Berlin and Brandenburg (directly at the entry of the books reviewed), and cares for long long-term archival storage.
The database of recensio.regio is also integrated in historicumSEARCH, the central search portal of the Specialized Information Service for Historical Studies.
Cross-portal search
recensio.regio is based on the concept and software of recensio.net, the review platform for European History. This allows you to conduct a cross-portal search concurrently in the databases of recensio.net, recension.regio and recensio.antiquitatis.
