The "Journal of the Historical Society for Swabia" has been published since 1874, focusing on articles on the history of Augsburg and Bavarian Swabia. It additionally contains a review section.
After the foundation of the Historical Society for Swabia [Historischer Verein für Schwaben] in 1834, there were initially published 36 "annual reports" in 26 issues. In 1874, these publications were transformed into the Journal of the Historical Society for Swabia [Zeitschrift des Historischen Vereins für Schwaben] with a new counting.
The journal is edited by the Historical Society for Swabia, which dedicates itself to the historical research of the Bavarian Swabian area.
