The "Archive for Hessian History and Archaeology" (AHG) deals with the regional and local history of the territories of the former Grand Duchy of Hesse (-Darmstadt) respectively of the People's State of Hesse, thus the former provinces Upper Hesse, Rhenish Hesse and Starkenburg.
The journal, which has been published annually since volume 32/1974, contains about 10-15 articles and numerous reviews on general history and on regional and local history, including archaeology, the history of art, cultural, education and church history as well as legal, constitutional and territorial history.
The journal has been published as "New Series" [NF = Neue Folge] since 1893. Its predecessor was the Archive for Hessian History and Archaeology [Archiv für hessische Geschichte und Alterthumskunde], which was published in 15 volumes between 1835 and 1884.
